HR5000 Project will equip 182 new trains with control, monitoring,
passenger information, and fleet management
Victoria, BC, Canada – October 22, 2024 – Quester Tangent, a leading North American
manufacturer and integrator of train control and monitoring (TCMS), passenger information
systems (PIS), and enterprise fleet management systems (EFMS), today announced it has won
a contract as a sub-supplier to train manufacturer Hyundai Rotem USA (HRU) for the HR5000
subway train project in Los Angeles. The project to build 182 new trains for the Los Angeles
County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), with an option for 50 more, is being led by
HRU, for delivery ahead of the 2028 Olympics. Quester Tangent will supply a complete onboard
package that will be installed into the HRU trains including the TrainWise™ TCMS and PIS. In
addition, Quester Tangent will supply a FleetWise™ EFMS on the wayside to provide real-time connectivity to
the fleet.

HRU stated that Quester Tangent was selected as a sub-supplier based on the company’s

operate the trains more efficiently.”
