Victoria. BC, January 15, 2014: Today Quester Tangent announced it has been awarded two contracts for the supply of brake assurance monitors. Both contracts require the delivery of safety critical systems for the Bombardier Innovia ART passenger rail vehicles. “This is another example of QT leading the way in rail vehicle monitoring” said QT President Stephen McKay, “By working closely with train manufacturers we continue to produce technologies for the safe and efficient movement of people and goods.”
The contracts call for deliveries to Vancouver and Kuala Lumpur in 2015. The systems are designed to monitor the train’s tachometer and in an emergency braking event take control of track, disk and the engine brakes to bring the train to a safe stop. The new systems will be in addition units delivered to these transit authorities in the 1990’s. McKay noted that similar braking monitoring systems were installed on trains in China, Korea and the US.
