Victoria, BC, Canada, June 10, 2013: Today Quester Tangent announced that it has been awarded a contract to supply 20 Train Management Systems with integrated passenger emergency intercoms to Motive Power, a division of Wabtec. The locomotives are destined for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority. The project with undisclosed dollar value follows a recently completed production of 20 locomotive systems. “This option order is a display of confidence in the products delivered by Motive Power and Quester Tangent” said Bill Collins, COO for Quester Tangent.
The QTC TrainWisetm system consists of a monitoring unit (MCU) with wireless remote access and a built-in Passenger Emergency Intercom. Onboard systems information is acquired by the MCU and displayed on the driver console display. The emergency intercom control head sits next to the display for a truly integrated look and feel. “Our design goals have been met” noted Ryan Smith, Engineering Manager for QT, “having passenger information systems integrated into our MCU starts us on the path of providing a more integrated framework for onboard electronics”.
For Quester Tangent the Train Management System has been a stock product for more than 15 years. The Passenger Information technology is the first of many such systems expected to be sold into the North American market and beyond. Earlier this year QT rolled out its new look brand for train products. Branding included their Trainwisetm and Fleetwisetm product lines.
The orders are to be delivered starting in September of this year. Located on the Pacific Northwest of North America near Victoria, B.C. Quester Tangent – an ISO 9001-2008 company – designs, develops and manufactures leading edge vehicle monitoring hardware and software for the global rail transit industry.
